Puppies

As real dog-lovers we find it very important that our pups find a good, and caring family.
That’s why we attemt to inform al new owners about the character and the characteristics of a poodle.
When you would have specific questions we always try to find a thorough answer or a good solution for your problem.
But we are no veterinarians or psychologist.
So for some problems we have to do some research ourselves, for other we prefer to consult specialists.
This could take a few days. In the interest of the owner and his pet we always answer any questions you would have.

Following you can find the most important characteristics of a poodle and a few tips for raising and the care of a poodle.

The poodle and his characteristics

It’s in a poodle’s nature to be a very brisk and playful dog who is always exploring his territory .
It’s a dog who learns very fast and is very easy to train him for agility.
The loyalty of a poodle is a well-known fact that makes him an ideal companion.
A poodle is always vigilant and cheerful. He moves soundly and carries himself proudly.
When you know that a poodle is a very intelligent dog,
it’s no surprise that he always knows how to turn things to his advantage.
So it’s very important to keep control over your dog and to show him that you are his master.
Whatever happens, don’t panic, a poodle can always be trained back to obedience.
Even when he behaves badly, you can always call him back to order.

Education

A poodle is full-grown around the age of one year.
From then of he will have a certain stability and a balance between his playful character
and his qualities to be a good companion.
Pups have a very open character but they need a strong, stable environment to grow up in.

A few remarks

When the puppies get their permanent theet (age of 4 to 5 months) they start chewing on everything.
They chew to ease their theeting discomfort.
That’s why it is very important that you buy enough toys on which the dog can chew.
If you don’t give him enough toys he will bite on your shoes on your furniture, …
You can prevent a lot of problems when you don’t let your dog run free true the house.
A portable dog cage can be the solution to this problem.
When you don’t want to invest in a cage you can always put your dog in a room where he can’t do no harm.

When they reach adolescence (at the age of 8 to 9 months),
in this period they become the canine equivalent of a rebellious teenager.
They start to question you authority. Instead of automatically obeying when you give a command,
they will now ask “why” and “what will happen if I don’t do what you ask”.
The right attitude is to be consistent and patient.
Adolence is a temporary condition but the solid foundation you build now will support,
your relationship with your dog four many years to come.

Even when your dog is not a show-dog, he will need an appointment with his trimmer from time to time.
